March 8-9-10 2012

On the Lac Saint-Jean ices

Quebec, Canada

First North-americain longue distance

kite snow challenge

Mishkumi Challenge and the Great Lac-Saint-Jean’s
ice trails Our vast region is named after Saguenay fjord and the
great lake, Lac Saint-Jean, which it links to the St. Lawrence. The
river winds through a majestic fjord whose breathtaking rocky
walls hold their own special fascination. To the north extends a
vast wilderness of forests and lakes simply brimming with adventure.
Many of the 275,000 local residents live in riverside towns that are
also home to a lively cultural scene. Last year Groupe Coderr, a
social economy enterprise, which will open a unique ecotourism complex in December 2012, join the tourist organization so called
“Destination Lac-Saint-Jean” and many adventure outfitters to
put together a new concept of Ice Trails. Renowned for its long and
snowy winters, the region wants to position itself as the

“North American winter adventure destination”
Just imagine yourself crossing this great lake of 250 km ircumference,
dog sledding, skiing, snowshoeing, kick sledding, and snow kiting! Hut to hut, stopping for a sauna on the ice, in the middle of
the lake… This coming March will be held the first Kite ski Challenge,
and a first test for the ice trails concept; 5 leg course for a total of
150 km and 3 days of pure fun and winter pleasure. “On invitation only” for the first edition, there will be athletes from all over the
world that will contribute to make this event, a yearly unique
snow kite international “get together” in Lac-Saint-Jean Quebec.

Mishkumi Challenge Starting on March 8th from Pointe-Taillon National Park, at St-Henri-de-Taillon, the riders will cross;

• to Vauvert, Dolbeau Mistassini for a lunch at the the iIce fishing
Festival spot.

• to Mashteuiash, our native Ilnu Community, for a Pow Wow, native
gastronomy dinner, and sleeping over in autochthonous tents.

• To the Center for History and Archaeology of Métabetchouane, for
a lunch stop

• To St-Gédéon, for a regional specialty food dinner and sleep over
on the ice

• And to close the loop, last led to Pointe-Taillon National Park !

Experienced snowmobile riders will ensure security, and riders
will be accompanied by our experienced dog sledding mushers.
An Italian production team is lead by Marco Camilloni,
is expected to film the event and promote the destination
in targeted European countries such France,
UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy. Finally, specific
invitations have been sent to international specialized media,
for them to take part of the experience. Each crew
will ride the challenge on snowmobile and will be provided with
all the necessary amenties. Along with our adventure and tourism
partners, travel and vacation packages will be offered
after the race, so riders and media can experience soft
local winter adventures such as; backcountry dog sledding, traditional
small game hunting on wilderness trail, ice fishing, wilderness snowmobile, a visit of St-Félicien’s famous wildlife and of Roberval
Ice village, ect
